With strong growth ahead, within an international environment, the company is now looking for a Business Development Transaction & Intellectual Property Manager.

Description

As the Transaction & Intellectual Property Manager at AUROBAC, you will play a crucial role in overseeing IP due diligences, assisting in transactions related to licensing, collaborations, and acquisitions while safeguarding AUROBAC’s biotechnological innovations, managing intellectual property portfolios, and providing strategic guidance to support our business objectives in close collaboration with Advisory Patent Law firms.

The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of science, biotechnology, intellectual property law, and business transactions.

You will report to the Head of Business Development and work closely with the executive team to conduct your mission.

Missions

Oversee Intellectual Property & Legal Due Diligences

  • Control IP ownership of the company.
  • Conduct patent landscaping, analyze third-party patents, and commercial use cases.
  • Conduct intellectual property due diligence (portfolio analysis, IP ownership, IP-related agreements) in collaboration with legal and business development teams for potential collaborations, partnerships, and licensing opportunities.
  • Work closely with AUROBAC’s Head of BD to assist in transactions related to licensing, collaborations, and acquisitions: deal models, contract review and drafting, negotiations.

Manage AUROBAC’s Intellectual Property Portfolio

  • Manage AUROBAC’s patent portfolio in close collaboration with its Patent Law Firms: drafting and filing of patent applications in close collaboration with scientific inventors from the company, prosecuting, monitoring and paying patent maintenance fees.
  • Establish in-house procedures to protect AUROBAC’s IP.
  • Collaborate with research and development teams to identify and assess patentable inventions.
  • Provide strategic guidance on patent protection, including patentability opinions, freedom-to-operate analyses, and competitive landscape assessments.
  • Conduct regular assessments of existing patents and provide recommendations for strategic filing or abandonment.
  • Provide support and advice in any patent dispute and in negotiating agreements.

Lead Patent Watch Activities

    • Provide and analyze prior art searches as well as competitive surveys of IP rights.
    • Lead patent watch activities to stay ahead of industry trends and potential opportunities or threats.
    • Conduct thorough analysis of competitors’ patent activities, in order to inform strategic decision-making.
    • Stay informed about changes in patent laws and regulations to ensure compliance.

Skills

    • Fluency in English is a must-have, French language skills would be a major plus.
    • Proven expertise in intellectual property management, with a strong understanding of patent law, processes and strategies.
    • Strong knowledge of licensing and contract negotiation.
    • Analytical and synthetic skills.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
    • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
    • A forward-thinking individual who thrives in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.

Experience

      • Educational Background: A double cursus with an Advanced degree (PharmD, Ms, Engineering or PhD) in biotechnology or pharmaceutical sciences and a Master’s degree in IP Law (from the International Patent Law School, CEIPI, or an equivalent).
      • Experience: 2 to 5 years of experience in a similar role within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
      • Used to working in an international environment.
