Sepsis 2024: Back to Basics to Inform the Future.
17th November 2024, Toronto
Sepsis is a global healthcare challenge with high incidence, high short-term mortality and long-term sequelae adversely impacting health. Management remains largely supportive. To-date, despite in depth understanding of biology, successful pharmacological manipulation of dysregulated immune and non-immune responses in clinical trials has been limited. Thus, there is a clamour of using new technologies, new analyses to define subpopulations and ways to enable precision medicine as population levels approaches have been unsuccessful.
Thus, the theme of Sepsis 2024 is to explore our current understanding of sepsis diagnosis and its management with a core goal to inform future reclassification of sepsis to enable better outcomes.
