Laboratory Operations & Research Associate

As a Laboratory Operations & Research Associate at AUROBAC, you will be part of the laboratory team supporting the company’s internal and partnered drug discovery and development activities. Your role will be critical to ensure smooth laboratory operations while providing scientific rigour and support for laboratory studies. This position is essential to maintain efficient and compliant lab operations, and you will work closely with the Quality Team to ensure this. You will report to the Lab Manager and will be expected to deputize in their absence. This position is ideal for someone who has already proved themselves as a laboratory researcher and is looking for their next step into laboratory management.

Missions:

  • Laboratory Operations and QMS
    – Help with the implementation of an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN), with a special emphasis on setting up and managing laboratory stocks to ensure accurate integration into electronic inventories
    – Oversee the storage and database management for AUROBAC’s bacterial strain and compound collections
    – Review and maintain chemical and biological product inventories
    – Create and update procedures and forms to ensure consistent operations and reliable data management
  • Scientific support
    – Contribute to experiment validation and assist in troubleshooting when needed
    – Perform laboratory experiments at the bench when required
    – Support the preparation and generation of laboratory reports and documentation (including SOP; protocols…)
    – Participate in the design, execution and interpretation of experiments, as required
    – Provide backup to the Lab Manager to ensure continuity of laboratory activities

    • Coordination / Leadership
      – Collaborate directly with lab manager and the QMS team to ensure laboratory compliance
      – Ensure smooth day-to-day lab functioning while escalating key decisions to Lab Manager

     

    Personal skills:

    – Fluency in English and French is essential
    – Excellent technical writing skills
    – Organizational skills with strong emphasis on attention to detail
    – Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
    – Strong communication & collaboration skills
    – Strong leadership potential

     

    Technical skills:
    – Strong knowledge and expertise in microbiology and cellular biology
    – Hands-on experience in microbiology and/or cell biology laboratory techniques
    – Strong IT and database management skills, including familiarity with ELN systems
    – Chemistry or biochemistry knowledge would be a plus

     

    Professional Experience:

    – Master’s degree (MSc) or PhD in Biology (Microbiology and cell biology)
    – 5 years of experience in a laboratory environment (preferably industry, and ideally with biotech or pharma experience)
    – Experience with laboratory operations (inventory, sample management, equipment maintenance) required
    – Experience with SOP/Protocols writing within QMS context mandatory
    – Used to working in an international environment.
