Senior Research Lead, Infectious Diseases & AMR Innovation Scouting

As Senior Research Lead, you will play a key role in identifying, evaluating, and integrating external innovation opportunities into AUROBAC’s R&D pipeline. Reporting to the Head of Business Development and working in close partnership with the Chief Scientific Officer, you will scout, assess, and recommend scientific assets, technologies, and partnerships that align with AUROBAC’s mission in infectious diseases and AMR. This role requires both deep scientific expertise and strategic business acumen to bridge innovation with long-term therapeutic impact.

Missions:

  • Innovation Scouting & External Engagement
    – Identify and monitor innovative programs, platforms, and technologies that align with AUROBAC’s mission in infectious diseases and AMR
    – Maintain an active presence at international scientific conferences, symposia, and networking events to keep up-to-date with scientific and technical innovations and identify prospects of interest
    – Develop and maintain strong relationships with academic institutions, biotech companies, and innovation hubs
  • Scientific Evaluation & Strategic Integration
    – Critically assess scientific and preclinical data packages to determine potential fit with AUROBAC’s pipeline
    – Support due diligence processes and prepare structured recommendations for portfolio expansion and strategic decision-making to the executive team
    – Lead collaboration with external consultants contracted for specific scientific or technical evaluation tasks, ensuring alignment with AUROBAC’s standards and strategic objective
    – Work closely with the CSO and R&D teams to integrate validated opportunities into AUROBAC’s research strategy
  • Scientific Intelligence, Communication & Grant Support
    – Continuously monitor the global landscape of infectious disease and AMR research, staying current with novel therapeutic modalities, platforms, and breakthroughs
    – Translate scientific trends into actionable insights to guide AUROBAC’s long-term R&D strategy
    – Contribute to publications, white papers, and thought leadership in the AMR field
    – Contribute to the preparation and review of the scientific part of grant applications

 

Personal skills:

– Fluency in French and English (spoken and written) is essential
– Dynamic, curious, and highly motivated by the challenge of fighting bacterial infectious diseases and AMR
– Strong communication and networking abilities; comfortable engaging with scientific and business stakeholders
– Strategic thinker with analytical and synthetic skills; capable of distilling complex science into actionable insights
– Organized, rigorous, with strong analytical and synthesis skills
– Collaborative mindset and ability to work across scientific and business functions within a fast-paced research-driven environment

 

Technical skills:

– PhD in Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, Medicinal Chemistry, or related field
– Strong scientific understanding of AMR, host-pathogen interactions, and antimicrobial drug discovery
– Knowledge of multiple therapeutic modalities (small molecules, peptides, biologics, natural products)

 

Professional Experience:

– 8+ years of experience in pharma/biotech, academic innovation scouting, or R&D leadership in infectious diseases
– Strong scientific background in antibacterial drug discovery
– Demonstrated track record in evaluating discovery/preclinical assets and driving collaborations
– Established network across the global AMR ecosystem (academia, biotech, funding initiatives, consortia)
– Used to working in an international environment
